Home Extension and Landscaping

The brief was to create a contemporary rear extension to a Victorian home, providing generous new kitchen, dining and living spaces while maintaining a clear relationship with the character of the original house.

The proposal introduces a warm timber-lined garden room, with full-height glazing opening the home towards the landscape. The extension is designed as a calm threshold between the existing Victorian rooms and the garden beyond, bringing natural light deep into the plan and creating a more open, flexible space for family life.

The new extension frames views across the garden and creates a stronger connection between inside and outside. Deep timber soffits, refined glazing and vertical cladding give the addition a distinct contemporary identity, while its low horizontal form allows the original Victorian house to remain visually dominant.
